Carey Talley is a cornerstone of the Memphis soccer community and one of the most accomplished professionals to come out of the region. A Tennessee State Soccer Association (TSSA) Hall of Fame inductee, Carey’s playing career is defined by 13 seasons in Major League Soccer (MLS), where he made over 300 appearances for iconic clubs including D.C. United, Real Salt Lake, and the New York Red Bulls. A standout at the University of North Carolina, he was the 14th overall pick in the 1998 MLS Draft and went on to win the MLS Cup in 1999. Since retiring from the professional ranks, Carey has dedicated himself to elevating youth soccer in his hometown. As the Technical Director for the Germantown Legends, he holds a USSF National ‘A’ License—the highest level of coaching certification in the country. His leadership focuses on elite player pathways, high-performance standards, and cultivating a professional culture that has led numerous Legends athletes to collegiate and professional opportunities.
