COACHING EXPERIENCE

Ryan has coached in various capacities beginning with working youth camps for University of Memphis after he graduated.  He spent 3 years coaching youth recreational from age groups U5-U8.  Coach Ryan will begin his 7th year at Germantown Legends with the 2011 Boys ECNL group and has specifically been with that age group since inception.

PLAYING EXPERIENCE

Coach Ryan moved to Germantown, TN in 1990 and his competitive soccer career began here.  His Kickers ’79 team evolved into Memphis Futbol Club (MFC ’79) and he spent the remainder of his development playing under coaches Toni Carbognani & Richard Bute.  He and his teammates claimed 3 State Championships, 4 USYS Region III tournament appearances, and a Region III U19 Tournament Championship in 1998.  From there, his MFC ’79 team placed 3rd at the US National Championships in Phoenix, AZ in 1998 in addition to two U-23 USASA National Tournaments in 1999 and 2000 finishing 2nd in both tournaments.


He led the Germantown Red Devils to back-to-back district & regional championships and reached the TSSAA State Tournament his Senior season.


Ryan was offered scholarships by many D1 programs and chose Bowling Green State University.  As a freshman forward, he recorded 5 goals & 5 assists as he helped lead the Falcons to a NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA National Tournament.  He started 22-24 games as a freshman as BGSU finished their season 18-6 and ranked 15th nationally.  He then transferred back home to finish his career at The University of Memphis where he immediately started at Center Back & Defensive Midfielder.  He finished his playing career at Memphis with a total of 6 goals & 5 assists while being Team Captain of the Tigers in his Senior year.


Ryan was selected for the U-23 ODP Region III team in 1999 and 2000 and was invited to the U-23 U.S. National “B” Team trials during those years in Portland, Oregon and Kingston, Rhode Island.

BIO

Ryan is married to his wife Brittany since 2005 and has 2 sons, Greyson & Lachlan.  Lachlan currently plays for the 2011B ECNL team.  They have 2 Great Danes which his family enjoys spending time with - Sapphire & Indigo.
